I thought it kind of nice to have a thread to put up our un-finished film projects, rough-cuts, unfinished and unwanted projects etc. Well, it was either that or a single shame-less plug for a short we haven't finished, put no effort into and made in four hours. LOL.

There is no real plot, but there are a couple of key props in there that relate it to weed-toking and dealers who don't deliver, perhaps [img]wink.gif[/img] This is part of our "make lots of mini pointless movies" in our run up to shooting Whole Wired World. No name though the working title of "Skanked Up" (just so that we can make a sequel; Skanked Up Again, lol). Yes, at the moment there's a tune in there from X-Men 2, but I assure you the finished piece will have its own original soundtrack courtesy of Equinox. A band you don't know yet.

I advise saving it to your HD rather than letting it stream, but either way you'll have to endure a rather naff frame rate - sorry!

Not necessarily looking for comments or criticism, this is merely for fun, but I'll be posting all my crap in this thread from now on, so keep an eye out for other things and please please do post your rough-cuts here!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Funny you should say that because my film that was completed in 4 hours sort of had its premiere i guess you could call it about 2 hours ago, and i now realise that my friends were viewing it as if it were a showcase of my abilities as a filmmaker.. it was quite embarressing really. Not sure i want to really show off my 4 hour production films anymore

Just a few comments on your "Skanked Up" clip...

First, there's not much story in the first minute-and-a-half of the clip you posted, is there? Besides some foley work, do you have any plans for that space (i.e. voice over for backstory)? If not, you may want to reconsider whether or not all of those shots are neccessary. Despite all the walking, the shots don't really seem to go anywhere.

Obviously, there are few costume continuity errors at 1:41 with Not-So-Silent Bob's coat during the street scuffle so I probably don't need to point that out.

As mentioned above, the shot where the camera backs down the stairs tracking the one character, and then picks up the second character and follows him up the stairs (2:50 - 3:08...) is very energetic with nice timing and execution. Great job on nailing that shot!

Here's a WIP clip from 'Randy', a short (approx. 30 min.) that we're close to wrapping up. I posted this clip for the director to see if the music I was working on had the vibe he wanted, and to see whether or not he liked the stinger I added right before the actress confronts Randy. Its a rough mix for the audio, and I definitely need to bump up the volume on Randy's "Boy, is she stacked..." line.

By means of a disclaimer, the actress is topless for a number of the shots. All the shots were framed and blocked such that you don't actually see too much of her "dirty pillows", but I definitely wouldn't reccomend watching this clip work. I guess that makes it rated "N" for "NOT-SAFE-FOR-WORK". The clip is around 1.6 MB.

Thanks for posting sn-films. I like the clip, I wouldn't worry about the nudity that does feature. If it's not a nipple, then it's not x-rated!

The first cut from inside cupboard to girl dancing is awesome. I don't know if one layer of her dancing is just continued from the first shot through the cupboard, but either way the blend from reality into that dance/dream-esque shot is superb. Other than that I admit, I was just focussing on your sexy lead for the most of it. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

And if there's one thing I remember Carrie for, it's that dirty pillows line...

Regarding Skanked Up, the stone to Don's first line is ideally for initial credits. The only planned VO was for the walk up the street when Don looks to his left and to his right, and comments on the amount of property Weir owns. However, now you mention it sn, the walk across the bypass up until "Damn British weather" would be a good place to start a voice over, to set the scene initially.

PS. You're the second person who shouldn't have spotted that coat-inuity error, damn you!! lol (aye, I didn't think anyone would notice! lol)

Going into the first shot of the girl dancing, I'd love nothing more than to say that we planned it. In reality, its a complete fluke that fell into my lap while editing. The original story didn't include any of the B&W fantasy shots. After watching the completed story, it felt a little... blah. To help spice up the short, we shot some fantasy and fetish footage to help Randy seem a little creepier. We were incredibly lucky that the actress was in a very similar pose and in almost exactly the same position on the screen in the two shots. At that point it became my purpose in life to do something cool with the footage.

From a technical perspective, it was fairly easy to put together. As I disolve from the shot in the bedroom to the dancing clip that was shot in the studio, the studio shot is blurred and horizontally offset so she lines up with the bedroom shot and then made completely transparent. As the disolve starts, the studio clip returns to 100% opacity and un-blurs, I slid it horizontally back to its baseline position while horizontally offseting and blurring the bedroom shot underneath so the actress is stacked on top of herself the whole time. I think its the blur filters that really give the tranition a unique look. The director actually thought I went outside my NLE and used morphing software to do that!

I think we're OK with coats, but we do have a magical bracelet in 'Randy' that jumps from a girls left wrist, to her right, and back. The really funny bit is that the girl is tied up to a wooden cargo palatte the entire time!

but anyways...right now, im working on getting the last fw shots needed for a 4 part action adventure silent film that im also scoring with garage band...i think its quite humourous, so all in all it acheives its purpose [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Nah it was pretty decent. I loved the tracking shot right before you reveal the guy holding that box. Very well done.

The story made absolutely no sense to me though heh.. and maybe it was just me but the sound kept cutting out.

What did you shoot it on? the colours seem VERY vivid. And where did you host the file?

I mean absolutely no offence to you in saying this, but after seeing yours i don't feel so bad about posting mine [img]wink.gif[/img]
